About

CascadeSiskiyou Wildcraft Collective

  • Wildcraft/Woodcraft: skills and experience in matters relating to living and thriving in the woods—such as hunting, fishing, and camping—whether on a short- or long-term basis. Woodcraft techniques might include knowledge of wildlife behavior, identifying and utilizing wild plants and animals (especially for food), camp cooking, orienteering (including hiking skills and use of a map and compass), fire making (including procurement of firewood), selecting and preparing a campsite, lashing and knot techniques, the use of tents and remote first aid/wilderness medicine. Woodcraft may be roughly equated to the phrase “living off the land“.

About the Group:

For starters, this collective is a vanguard of the Gaian Renaissance. This cooperative project is based upon a shared interest in rewilding our own personal lifestyles and having meaningful fun in nature. Our collective is comprised of individuals who don’t quite fit into modern civilization and the “American” culture. We have no group politics, or single belief system, except a distrust of consumerism & the industrialized lifestyle and a deep personal connection with nature. We are the folks who revere the wilderness and wildness and want to reclaim the human place as a symbiotic member of the planetary ecosystem. We are technically wilderness squatters and as such we do not hold much respect for arbitrary authority and we tend to stay outside the radar of the law as much as possible and always remain non-aggressive & non-violent. A good guiding principle is “If you harm no-one, do what you will”. No-one includes the ecosystems in which we exist. We hold the values of self-sufficiency, kinship, and experiential learning in high regard and we treat each-other as free and independent human beings. Nearly all of us that pass in and out of this collective are full-time travelers & adventurers, or at least semi-nomadic, so we have the understanding that anyone may leave at any time, as the collective is based upon completely free and voluntary association & co-operation. Our collective lifestyle out on the land is one of healthy material simplicity, spirituality, liberty and dedication. The ultimate goal is to perfect our wilderness survival, simple living, and ultra-lightweight travel skills and share them within any given community that we are involved in. We wish to create a decentralized network of organizers,  camps, and collectives that serve others. The HQ camp serves as both a gear storage facility and an ecospiritual retreat.  As a creative & pragmatic activity we build low-tech, low-impact structures to serve as temples, storage, and recreational enjoyment. Examples are the sweat lodge and earth temple. We organize ceremonies, group hikes, parties, camp-outs, workshops and skillshares to spread the lifestyle, the fun, the idealism and all the personal empowerment & liberation that blossoms from it.

What is Rewilding?:

Rewilding is about combating human domestication and personal disempowerment and returning to behavior inherent in human wildness. Though often associated with primitive skills and learning knowledge of wild plants and animals, it emphasizes the development of the senses and fostering deepening personal relationships with members of other species and the natural world. Rewilding intends to create permanently wild human cultures beyond domestication.Rewilding is a holistic approach to living, as opposed to practices or a specific set of knowledge.

A Disclaimer: What we are doing is experimental and flexible, it is not always fun, rarely easy, but it is fulfilling, raw, authentic, and enlightening. We are in danger constantly, the wrong fall or a run in with a repressive authority of Babylon, but through this we live in joy as well. We must be wise, tact, agile, and dynamic individuals with a strong heart and strong dedication. Be Warned. This form of outdoor recreation and living is not for everyone.
